Tinnitus and Melatonin to help you sleep

Melatonin Can Help Improve Your Sleep And Your tinnitus.

A daily supplement of Melatonin may help improve your tinnitus and sleep patterns. It certainly has in my case since I\’ve been taking it over the last 6 months after having extremely loud Tinnitus for the last 14 years.

Melatonin is actually a hormone that is secreted by the pineal gland which is situated in the centre of your brain. Melatonin which is stimulated by the onset of darkness at nighttime is a very important factor in the human bodys circadian cycle or your internal body clock.

In most people melatonin is produced to help regulate our sleeping and waking cycles but scientistcs have found that as people get older the amount produced is smaller and that this may be the reason why young people have less problems with their sleeping patterns than older ones.

Other studies have shown that melatonin has also helped people with tinnitus who develop irregular sleep patterns and does not have the hazards and side effects of prescription sleeping pills. Melatonin can also strengthen your immune system as well as reduce the free radicals in your body.

Who Can Take Melatonin?

Melatonin is like a natural nightcap and people with tinnitus can really benefit from using it regularly. Others people such as travellers, those suffering from mild sleep disorders and the aged have found that it has restored their circadian rythms and sleep cycles as well as giving them lots of energy.

The right dosage shold be prescribed by your Doctor and will differ from person to person. Normally Tinnitus sufferers can start with a smaller dosage taken before bed-time each night and then work your way up to larger doses if required.

Are there any side-effects to taking melatonin?

According to various studies about 10 percent of people who have taken melatonin under trials have reported symptoms such as bad dreams, headaches, morning fuzziness, mild depression, and a lowered sex drive.

Personally I have not experienced any of these side effects however this is why you should see and consult with your Doctor before beginning any trial of melatonin to help with your sleep patterns.

Should certain people avoid it?

Yes people such as women who are pregnant, nursing young infants, those with severe allergies, people with cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma and lastly healthy children as they are already producing plenty of melatonin naturally.

Is melatonin safe?

Melatonin is very safe and is one of the least toxic substances known and there have been very few complaints about the drug to official authorities after extensive testings. These complaints were mostly to do with melatonin causing drowsiness and a slower reaction times in certain individuals.

When should the dosage be administered?

Melatonin should be taken just before you go to bed. About half an hour is recommended. If you are traveling on a long journey or plane trip you can take a dose of melatonin before your flight.

It\’s important you take it at regular times as melatonin has a significant role in setting your body\’s daily clock or circadian rythms.

What are the usual ingredients in melatonin capsules or tablets?

Pure Melatonin plus standard tablet fillers and binders such as Di-Calcium Phosphate Anhydrous, Stearic Acid, Micro-Crystallin Cellulose, Silicon Dioxide, and Magnesium Stearate

Melatonin combined with a Tinnitus masking soundtrack during the night is the best way I have found to to ensure I get a great night\’s sleep and it\’s one of my top recommended ways of dealing with Tinnitus and sleeping issues.

The Better Way out

If we take a closer look at our lifestyles nowadays then we find that it is full of stress. There are so many sources of stress in our heads and around us. There is a urgent need for us to fight this stress in our lives and clean our heads and minds from it. If these stress on our body and mind is not taken care of and it prevails for a long time in us then it can lead to very depressing results. People use a lot many ways to come out of stress and use various methods of doing so.

When things go out of hand then there is a utmost need to counter it before it encounters our life. Things are not as they seem from far. There are certain things which must be thought of very logically in order to avoid the risk that it brings on us and take an initiative to get rid of them. The method adopted by a human mind to escape the current situation or mind set is generally known as Defense Mechanisms in psychology. Each and every individual uses defense mechanism to make their ways out of their problems.

The problem is there are some really good defense mechanisms whereas some are so bad that they can take your life or leave you in even worse than that situation. Some weak minded people cannot handle stress and they come into the pressure and make use of things like drugs and alcohol consumption in order to counter the stress that surrounds them but they are not aware of the fact that alcohol is not the answer to all the problems.

When you get drug addicted or alcohol addicted then you can only get rid of the problems till you are under the control of the drug or the alcoholic substance whereas if you find the better ways out then things will become a lot simpler and you will find that there are permanent solutions to it. For those who have gone too far in addictions can still be bought out of it by the drug and alcohol treatment programs. These alcohol and drug treatment programs are the ones which give you support and help you come out of your addiction problems. So help yourself and help others who seek help, it is indeed a very noble deed to do so.

Could an “Adjustment” Help

Sometimes a chiropractor can help with many “mechanical” problems in your body. By Mechanical I mean bones, spine, things of that nature, as opposed to a virus or cold or flu and so on.

Have you ever tried a chiropractor adjustment of your neck, spine area? I am sure many of you have, but if you have not, may I recommend trying an “adjustment” of your body by a “qualified” chiropractioner.

Some things to know about chiropractors  is:

    1. Always ensure they take xray’s prior to doing any twisting of your body

    2. Check online for good ones in your area, angies list may help

    3. It’s wise for a chiropractor to ensure your neck is loose (maybe by sitting your neck on heat for 20 minutes or so)

    4. ASK ASK AND ASK questions

A few visits may really help with Tinnitus, and if they don’t , a few more may. There are LOTS of suggestions for Tinnitus, and you never really know what will help in the long run.
